Some file types, such as 3D Studio files, don’t have any configurable import choices. Instead, the tab’s options are grayed out, but you’ll see what’s being imported. The file format of your 3D model determines the available settings. For PRC files, you’ll have an array of choices dealing with polygon compression and level of detail.

For U3D files, check out the Mesh Quality setting, where you can balance the image quality against the compression more precisely than choosing a default conversion preset. To make the model easier for the layperson to view and understand, use the Center Model At Origin setting, which moves the X-Y-Z coordinates to an origin located at the center of the bounding box Figure 4.

Figure 4: Optimize the file and center its geometry. Rather than building a complete page for a model, it’s easy to specify a page location, or canvas , on an existing document using the 3D tool. The options available for configuring the model and the page aren’t as extensive as those described earlier, since you’re already working with an existing PDF file. Follow these steps to insert a model on an existing PDF page:.

Figure 5: Choose the Insert 3D tool. Figure 6: Specify appearance options such as a border or poster. Tip: If you want to modify the 3D settings, click the canvas with the Select Object tool, then right-click to open the shortcut menu and choose Properties.

Whether inserted on a page or as a separate PDF file, a 3D model displays the 3D toolbar when you click its canvas unless you deselected the option to show the toolbar when configuring the file. Many commands on the 3D toolbar are intuitive, such as rotating, zooming or manipulating the model in 3D space. Click a button with a drop-down arrow to show a list of options Figure 7.

As you see in the figure, you can choose from numerous rendering modes. Likewise, click the Light drop-down arrow to pick another lighting mode, the color swatch to change the background color, or the Cross Section to show a segment of the model. Making 3D PDF files with Adobe Acrobat and other software. One moment, please

In technical terms, Adobe acrobat 3D is a relatively new program that permits the use of interactive 3D content in widely available and familiar PDF format. By using PDFelement, a simple yet outstanding 3D output can be created. Thus, for using an Adobe 3D tool it’s mandatory for an individual to install the updated version of Adobe Reader. In this tool, 3D PDFs are generated in 3 file sizes so that any user with any kind of computer configuration can be benefited with this program. The largest size is more detailed compared to smaller file size PDFs.

So, after Installation of the tool kit the required file size is determined based on the configuration. It’s always served me well, as it is significantly more stable than viewing with a browser, especially with large files. I would like to see the ability to add folders built into the app. This is a feature that is available on the iOS version of the app, and allows files to be organized in app. Little disappointing that simple feature is not available on Android.

Note: Before you take a measurement, specify the model units, rendering mode, camera view, lighting and so on, as the measurement view includes these settings. You can add as many or as few measurements as you like. The sample project includes three incrementally numbered measurement views. Each time you add a view and measurement, Acrobat lists the details as a child component of the view.

You can add comments to a 3D model in three ways. Rather than leaving a measurement as is, convert it to a comment associated with the view. If you don’t have a measurement, you can attach a 3D comment to a particular view instead. To create a comment from a measurement, click the measurement component named Measurement1 by default. When generated, the comment displays in the Comments panel, and details show on the lower section of the panel Figure Figure Convert a measurement to a comment.

You don’t need a measurement to add a comment, of course. To add a 3D comment, set the view and other details as you wish. On the 3D toolbar, click the 3D Comment tool, then click the insertion point on the model where you want the comment to point.

Drag and release the mouse to insert a comment location. On the Model Tree panel, you’ll see a new view added, named 3DCommentView followed by the next view sequence digit by default, with the comment text as a component of the comment Figure Figure Insert a 3D comment in a special view.

In Figure 12, for example, you can see a Rectangle drawing comment shown on a particular view. The comment includes an attached pop-up note, shown both on the document pane and in the Comments panel. Figure Insert a generic comment in another special view. The details area at the bottom of the panel shows the comment’s contents.

Tip: If you don’t want a comment associated with a particular view, click the page outside the 3D model’s area. Clearly, you can have a lot of activity in a 3D PDF document, even one as simple as a door.

Rather than displaying all the views and comments in your Model Tree panel View area, filter the list to show just the comments and measurements. To filter the list, click the Options menu’s arrow on the View toolbar and select List Comments.

To return to the full list, toggle off the List Comments check mark. Try Acrobat DC. Learn how to edit PDF. Get started. How do I add interactivity to my 3D objects? Incorporating interactive 3D into documentation. Rearrange PDF pages.
