Today we are checking out Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp which was released in for a number of different systems. It is honestly crazy how many different Barbie games have been released over the years and this one is part of a sub-series in the Barbie games world, actually, it is the fourth game in this sub-series! Say what you want about these Barbie games, but I always feel that at the very least they do try and have a decent story.

This game is set on a lovely island that has been the victim of a pretty brutal storm. Barbie needs to roll her sleeves up and try to get the island back to normal all the while taking care of her horses and winning races. I have to be honest, the story is not all that bad and it is not even based on a tie-in movie.

However, at the time this was as close to an open world Barbie game as we had gotten. The game has you going around the island and talking to many different NPCs they will give you missions to do such as a kid asking you to go and find his toy that was lost in the storm. Most of what you do will be fetch quests, but you are free to do these any way you want. The controls of the game are decent enough. As the name of the game suggests, horses play a big role in the game.

This ranges from using your horse to get around the island to taking part in timed races. The races are interesting and this is where you can see that the game was clearly made with children in mind.

The reason that I say this is because they give you about 10 minutes to do one of these races and you often need less than half of that to do it. In Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp, pretty much everything that you need to know is on your phone. This ranges from checking out the map, seeing what quest you can do, and even teleporting you back to somewhere on the map.
